Bringing it at the Park


This is my start to posting videos for all of you.  This is done on my 1 hour lunch break.  I ran 1 mile to the park and did pullups and pushups for 1/2 hour then ran back.  This was the last set before I headed back.  Remember this was done after an intense Chest and Back routine at 5:00am in the morning with the 30lbs vest!

Starting off a New Year!

I want to say that I'm proud of all of you that have followed your good nutrition during the Memorial weekend holiday festivities. I can not say that I did the best at following my nutrition plan but I did refrain from drinking any sodas and eating chips during meals.  If you feel like you have fallen short on yourself over the weekend, put it in the past and make a new beginning today! 
   I had the opportunity to watch Extreme Makeover Weight loss Edition yesterday evening and it was very emotional for me.  I never knew that being a coach would change me SO much in such a short amount of time.  I am SO proud of each and every one of you for "pushing play" and "digging deeper" each and everyday.  Your lives will change drastically and I'm sure you are already noticing a change in your everyday attitude!  The show last night shows us an important part of a transformation.  From month 6 to month 9 Rachael only lost 3lbs and she says that she busted her butt in the gym.  What did she do wrong?  Nutrition.  She admitted to falling off the wagon on her nutrition and this really damaged her results for those three months.  I only wish I could meet up in person with each and everyone of you to help push you to your limits.  "Staying Fit Family" is the next best place for us to do that.  You all amaze me with your motivation.  I am proud.

Bananas gone wild------ I mean bad!


I learned this trick from another member of the Bombshell Dynasty and I absolutely loved it!  Next time when your bananas are starting to go bad put them in the freezer.  They will stay good and be perfect for adding into your Shakeology at a later date!  AMAZING!!!!!

My story for contest!

It was May of 2010, I was not the Father and Husband I knew that I should be.   I was going to work and sitting at my desk from 5:00am until 5:00pm.  I drank 2-3 Monster and Rockstar energy drinks per day to get my caffeine fix and to stay awake.  When I got home from work I would sit on the couch and watch television, always too tired and worn out to play with the kids.  One day as I was lying on the couch watching a movie I could hear my wife in the other room working her butt off to Tony Horton’s Power Half Hour.  I walked in to see the sweat pouring off of her.  I thought, maybe I can do this?  I went back into the living room and plopped myself back on the couch.  A half hour later she came out of the room and started running up and down the stairs in our living room.  This is the moment I decided to commit to P90X.   I  knew my brother-in-law had lost about 100lbs with it so knew it worked.  I wanted something INTENSE.  I bought the program and started on May 20th, 2010.  This day has changed my life.  It’s an anniversary of my new life and a leaving of my old one behind.  This day is also my parent’s anniversary so it’s a very important day to me!
    I have a binder with my P90X worksheets and I love to look back and see the progress I have made over the past year.  One time after posting my month 4 and month 5 pictures a friend told me, “Looks like you have reached you max potential.”  This drove me to push harder.  I bought heavier weights and a weighted vest and pushed myself to the max every day!  I was able to guide my dad and wife up the Middle Teton in Wyoming which averages 1000 vertical feet ascent per mile.  This was a 17 mile trip we did in one day!
    I now am known by my family and friends as one of the most positive people they have ever met.  P90X gave me life.  I have never found anything more stress relieving then sweating it out to Plyometrics and calming the mind and stretching the muscles with Yoga.   I am a better dad; I love to get out and run with my girls in the jogging stroller and take them on walks and hikes.  My daughters love to lay their blankets out and workout with me.  I know this will help them learn to live a healthier life as they continue to grow and watch our example!   The TV hardly ever gets turned on except to “push play”.  It is amazing how many people have followed my example and started their own personal fitness journey.  I have started a free Fit Club in my city where we sweat it out to P90X and other Beachbody workouts!  I love setting an example of living a healthier life!
     I have never felt better about life in general and I know it is because I decided to commit and succeed.  You can accomplish anything you set your mind to.  If you set goals and check up with your progress you will accomplish great things.  “Do more than expected and get better than expected results.”  I am a happy man!

4 year old Push-ups


You never know what kind of influence you have on anyone.  My 4 year old daughter doing pushups.  She LOVES to make her Daddy proud.

365 DAYS!


One year!  It feels incredibly awesome to know that I have dedicated myself to one whole year with P90X and Beachbody!  I know now that I can never go back to the way I used to be.   I had no drive for anything more in my life then waking up, going to work, and coming home to sit on the couch and watch movies.  It is amazing the change in lifestyle that can come from just Pushing Play every day!  I went from drinking two energy drinks a day just to have the energy to sit at my desk job.

    Now I enjoy running at lunch, getting the natural energy from eating right, energy from working out to P90X, starting a local fit club called Team Dynasty 208 Fit Club , playing with my kids, hiking incredible mountains, and having the feeling of knowing I'm healthy and setting an example for others!

    I hope that anyone who sees my pictures and posts find that little light and decide to commit to a program and eating right.  Even if they never actually contact me for help I am happy to have made the influence in their lives!

This is an example of how the meal planner works-  You put in your preferences and goals with weight loss and a few other things such as you height, weight, and age.  You can then go in and edit certain foods if you do not want them to show up in your planner.  Its amazing.

We all have those days that don't go so well, it happens to everyone!  Well I had one of those days yesterday and decided I would log out of facebook for the evening and go spend some quality time with my family.  When I got home from work I had two Fedex packages on my doorstep.  
    My big bag of Shakeology came and so did my packet from Dolores Thompson - Senior Manager of Testimonial & Success Story Production.  I got the loaner HD flip video recorder and some release waivers.  I'm so stoked to do some recording this weekend!  I am required to send in raw interview footage and video of me doing some workouts.  Please send me some suggestions of what moves you would like to see me perform!  They will then produce the story for me!  I'm still wondering if this is something I can have when they are done producing it so that I can put it on my own You tube channel!  The camera came just in time, I will be hitting my ONE YEAR mark tomorrow!  MAY 20th 2011.

My Why

     Why join Beachbody?  Why not?!  I am a family man that works hard to provide for my family.  My beautiful wife and I were married five years ago and had our first daughter about 4-1/2 years ago.  We bought a brand new home when our first daughter was just 4 months old.  We are smart with our money and have goals to pay off our home by the time that our oldest graduates from High School.  We spoil ourselves once a year and go on a 7 night cruise with out the kiddos.  We spend the weekends camping and hanging out with friends.  In order for us to do this we have had to sacrifice.  I have worked 11-12 hours a day from 5am -5pm for the past 4 years. There was one year I worked just about every Saturday!  My wife works 4-5 nights per week at the Hilton to provide the extra money that goes to our home to pay it off faster.

   I can't say that I love my 7-4 job but I don't mind it.  Ever since I started P90X and Insanity and became involved in the Beachbody Community I have had this passion and desire to help others.  I love fitness and nutrition.  We have talked about having myself go back to school to be a personal trainer and study nutrition (you should find a job that you truely love if you want to be happy in life!). We came to realize that the career would not cover the expenses that we have!
   I first contacted Lindsay Matway about  4-5 months ago about being a coach and kind of  backed away from the idea. I was blown away by her Youtube video but I was scared to commit.  When I want something, I am the kind of person that will excel. Its in my nature.  I started my fitness group called Staying Fit Family and it blew up!  I realized that I was an amazing coach!  I sat down with my wife and talked about the investments involved to start my own business as a Beachbody Coach.  It was practically free!  I made Lindsay Mataway my coach because she was in this for the same reason that I was.  To change peoples lives and pay it forward.  I saw through her example that if you show true concern and love for your customers and friends the income will come as a bonus.  I could not have found a leader with more passion and love for her job. 
    I am no professional at fitness and nutrition, nor need you be one to be a coach.  With the right motivation and drive for success I now KNOW that I will be able to pay off our home in 5-8 years with my wife at home.  I have currently cut my working hours with my job back to 8 hours a day and my wife is working only 1-2 nights a week just as a break from the kids and to be out with adults. This is because I made the choice to become a coach with Team Dynasty.  This is WHY I love being part of Team Dynasty!  We as a family will be able to spend more time together which is what life is really about.  I love to hear my 2 year old ask me with a smile before bed on Friday night, "Daddy not working tommoyo!!?!???" 
     I want to change peoples lives one at a time. I know that if I help people become more healthy and give them the desire to help others, I will  really NEVER know how many peoples lives will have been changed in the long run.  I post motivational things and I MAY never know how many people are reading them and making changes in their lives.  Nothing brings me more joy then to see the attitude change of somebody that is transforming their lives, their bodies, their attitude, and helping others.  I am with Team Dynasty because I love to surround myself with people who have a great positive attitude about life.  I tell my customers you don't need an amazing transformation to be a coach.  All you must have is a desire and drive to succeed which comes from showing true love and concern for others. Importance of Nutrition and Fueling Your Workouts

     As your coach I feel like I must confess something to all of you.  As we all know, this past weekend was a holiday  and I hope all of you beautiful Mothers had a great day.  I, of course, did not workout on this day but must tell you what I ate for it weighs heavily on my mind.
    It started out Friday night at a surprise party for a high school friends 30th birthday.  I ate two slices of supreme pizza (thick crust) and I drank a Dr. Pepper.  I do not drink soda.  The next morning for Mothers Day I skipped my Shakeology and make French Toast for the family.  Mothers Day dinner prepared by my Father was not at all TOO bad, I ate grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, some fruit, a small portion of dutch oven potatoes, and a juice.  The bad part came later with the inevitable Huckleberry cheese cake.  That's right I said it.  I had two slices.  I also realize that I maybe drank 1 cup of water in the duration of Saturday and Sunday.
   I justify it by saying it was a holiday.  Just let me tell you that nutrition really does affect you.  Not only in your journey to loosing weight and watching your calories.  I woke up this morning with plenty of rest (7 hours).  I could not get out of bed!  When I finally did after hitting the snooze button twice I headed down stairs and threw on my weighted vest.  Let me tell you that all of my reps were lower than ever (I took my vest off after going through the set one time on chest and back).  I know this is because I had slacked in my nutritious eating.  I have been really great about eating healthy and staying away from junk and have seen amazing results from this important part of staying fit.
    
 I want each of you to find the power in yourselves to:
  • Plan out your daily meals to be healthy. 
  • Get rid of unhealthy foods in your house. 
  • Stop drinking soda. 
  • Make sure that you are properly fueling your bodies. 
  • If you do this, you will be able to get more out of your workouts and see the results that you want to see.

Team Dynasty

AMAZING- That's all I can say to describe it. Team Dynasty.  If you want a team that is in the Beachbody business for the right reason, look no further.  This is what drew me to this team in the first place.  I looked into coaching because I LOVE helping people out.  I personally have what it takes to be a great and inspiring leader.  I DID want to coach with a team that would help me understand the business end of it however but that is NOT the most important part.  I was drawn to the Bombshell Dynasty because my coach CARES about others and their success.  I have never once heard a negative word about another team from her or others on our team and that is what I love about all of them.  Nothing makes me happier as a coach then to receive a message letting me know how they love being on my team and the support they feel from everyone that takes part.  If you are looking for a great place for support come to the Staying Fit Family you will be coached by a bunch of people who care about people getting in shape and changing their lives.  They help hold each other accountable for their goals and they help me hold my self accountable as their coach.

Preparing for the Success Story Video Interview

Just over 2 weeks ago I was contacted by the Senior Manager of Testimonial and Success Story Production for Beachbody.  I was told that my transformation was AMAZING and was asked if I wanted to do my home interview in English or Spanish ( I am bi-lingual).  I opted for the first and set myself in check to prepare for the interview.  I unfortunately do not own a HD camera so they will be sending one to me.  I received my instructions and release forms saying that they may use my interview in advertising. Now what to do:
One of the instructions was to do my interview shirtless. I have been bulking for the last 4 months so the abs have been slightly covered so now comes the quick tone work.

Here is what I did.   Starting weight 178lbs.  April 18th, 2011

-I cut my calorie intake back by about 1,000 calories (from 3000 to 2000)
-I added 10-15 miles of running per week
-Added a Insanity workout in on my rest day
-Switched my workouts to the morning instead of in the evenings
-Added one hour more of sleep per night from 6 hours to 7 hours.

I dropped 15lbs and kept my weights and reps up where they were.

May 4th 2011- Current weight 162.5  lbs

This is not only 90 days

I am writing this post in answer to something I hear all of the time in the P90X forums and in my group called Staying Fit Family.  
  
"I missed 3 days of my workout last week, should I start over on that week or should I move on?"
 First to answer this question let's realize that if you are in this program (or any other Beachbody Program) 
thinking that you will do 90 days of working out and will be ripped for life, you are here with the wrong attitude.  The people that will truly be successful with Beachbody Products are the ones who know that after their first 90 days are done they will move on to something else. 
    
   To be successful with your fitness goals you need to not only dedicate yourself for the 90 days but you need to dedicate yourselves for life.
   
This is why I call P90X by another name P(LIFETIME)X!!!!!!!!


    We will achieve our overall fitness goals by setting shorter smaller 90 day goals!  These first 90 days are just the beginning.  Set goals today for your next 90 days. Set long term goals as well! 
  
To answer the question, I say, do what feels best to you.  As long as you are refocusing and pushing play, in the long run it will not matter where you are at in the 90 day schedule!
   Let's do this!

Summer Slimdown Challenge has kicked off!!!!
